INPACE at Expo Osaka 2025: Driving Innovation Through Digital Collaboration

Expo Osaka 2025, themed "Designing Future Society for Our Lives," focuses on the concept of Saving, Empowering, and Connecting Lives. As a "People’s Living Lab," it encourages global collaboration to cocreate future solutions through shared knowledge and technology. 

Taking place at Yumeshima, Osaka, from 13 April to 13 October 13 2025, Expo Osaka 2025 aims to drive sustainable growth in Japan following the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. This event emphasises progress toward the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aligns with Japan’s "Society 5.0" vision — a human-centered, tech-driven future society.

As part of INPACE’s efforts to build a sustainable Indo-Pacific-European Hub for digital collaboration, a workshop titled "Advancing Collaboration in the Digital Sector" will take place on Wednesday, 2 July 2025, at Portugal’s Pavilion during Expo Osaka 2025. Themed "Oceans: Blue Dialogue," the pavilion will showcase the future of the seas, highlighting the country’s deep maritime heritage and leadership in ocean sustainability.

The INPACE workshop will focus on three key areas: 

Topics will include 6G standardisation, 5G deployment, EU cybersecurity frameworks (Cybersecurity Act, DORA), public-private partnerships, and EU-Japan collaborative initiatives with funding opportunities.

INPACE is a Coordination and Support Action funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Programme. Launched in January 2024, INPACE supports the implementation of Digital Partnerships between the European Union and Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and the Trade and Technology Council with India. The initiative establishes a multi-stakeholder Hub for collaboration in digital technologies between Europe and the Indo-Pacific region and fosters long-term cooperation in key digital technologies by bringing together experts and stakeholders from both regions. By tackling joint priorities from the EU and its strategic Asian partners, INPACE aims to create a more inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous digital future for both regions.
